Subsidies for energy efficient refrigeration
The NSW Department of Environment Climate Change and Water (DECCW) is commencing a new program for energy efficiency in industrial refrigeration, as part of the State Government’s $150 million Energy Efficiency Strategy. The Program aims to promote wide-spread adoption of cost effective, commercially proven energy efficient industrial refrigeration technologies throughout NSW.
Industrial Refrigeration specialist Minus40 has been appointed by DECCW to identify energy saving technologies and to develop business cases and verified case studies, and to run seminars and tours of demonstration sites.
Subsidies Available
Business Cases
DECCW will pay 70% of the cost of providing business cases for firms wanting to make their industrial refrigeration systems more efficient, through its Industrial Refrigeration Sector Transformation Program.
A 70 per cent subsidised business case will identify how much money, energy and carbon pollution a company can save by optimising its refrigeration plant. The business case will include projected energy savings, capital cost estimates and calculated payback periods.
Implementation Support
DECCW will also provide 30% funding up to $20,000 for a limited number of “early adopter” projects.

Shanghai Expo Primary Industry day
The NSW Government is participating in the Shanghai Expo 2010 and in addition to the NSW week showcasing a range of services in July, there will be a Primary Industry event on October 12, 2010.
This includes agriculture, aquaculture, forestry and mineral sectors.
The overall objectives for NSW Government involvement are to:
– Drive new business opportunities
– Raise the profile of NSW
– Increase awareness of NSW strengths and its nine key strategies (science, research & technology; tourism; education; agribusiness; sustainable design; business and financial services; mining & resources; creative industries; and manufacturing).
– Increase awareness of NSW as an ideal place to invest, do business, study and live.
Planning for the event has commenced and the proposed theme is “NSW Primary Industries - feeding and energising the world”.
It is planned that the Minister will lead the NSW primary industries delegation and set the scene for the program focussing on the attractive attributes of NSW’s agribusiness, forestry and minerals sector, and why NSW is a desirable place for investment and doing business.
Companies may nominate to attend, at their own cost. Those companies interested in attending, please contact Scott Seaman from Industry & Investment NSW on 02 6330 1200 or scott.seaman@industry.nsw.gov.au .
